Thank you for submitting to Nimrod. Unfortunately, we will not be publishing your submission at this time. We are returning your manuscript if you have provided us with an SASE with sufficient postage. Otherwise, we are returning the first page or cover letter so that you can identify your submission. You can be assured that your work has been read by editors who are fellow writers and critics dedicated to making thoughtful and aesthetically sensitive decisions—editors who wish they could publish all the sincere and well crafted work that is submitted to Nimrod. Limitations of space and funding dictate rigorous selectivity. We try to respond promptly and regret any delay in giving you our reaction to your submission. We are always in the process of reading—with care and consideration—the thousands of manuscripts submitted to us.
We hope that you will join us in our publishing venture which has lasted more than 50 years: resubmit, submit to our annual Nimrod Literary Awards competition, or subscribe to Nimrod ($30 for 2 years; Patron $50 or more.) Again, thank you for your submission.

Thank you for submitting to Nimrod International Journal.
Though we will not be publishing this manuscript at this time, we admire the quality of your work and hope that you will submit again.
You can be assured that your work was read by dedicated editors who wish that they could publish all the sincere and well-crafted work that is submitted to Nimrod. We are always in the process of reading—with care and consideration—the many general submissions which arrive at our door; works submitted for our thematic issues; and those specifically submitted for the annual Nimrod Literary Awards. Unfortunately, limitations of space and funds dictate rigorous selectivity; two issues fill up very quickly when we have so many quality submissions each year.
Once again, however, please believe us when we say we would enjoy reading your work in the future. This is not a come-on or an idle gesture. Only a few of the writers who submit their work to Nimrod receive this encouragement, and we hope that you will take advantage of it and subit to us again, either as a general submission, for one of our special theme issues, or for the Nimrod Literary Awards.
Sincerely yours,
