Nonfiction Rejections

Thank you for submitting your flash essay,'TITLE,' for Issue 281 of Prime Number Magazine. I am going to have to pass on your piece this time.

As a writer myself, I have submitted many pieces to lit mags, and I know it's not fun to get a rejection. Keep in mind that I am just one editor and one opinion.

Sometimes I reject pieces because I do not think they are strong enough; however, I also reject a work: 1) if it is too long (our word count max is 750); if the author submitted more than one piece (only one essay is allowed per author per issue); or 3) if the work is fiction (we only accept nonfiction in this category).

Although your flash essay was not selected, I appreciate you sending your work to us. Issue 281 will go live on January 1, 2026. I hope you will read these essays and help us celebrate these authors.
