Thank you for your submission to Spillway. We're sorry to be saying no. Many poems submitted had overlapping subject matter. This made our job as editors unusually difficult. All editorial decisions are, as you know, subjective. Often, especially this year, good poems duplicated subject matter of a poem already accepted. Yes, we're wringing our hands. Poetry rejections

Thank you for your submission to Spillway. It’s always hard to say no. All editorial decisions are, as you know, subjective. Sometimes a good poem does not fit into the theme or match the tone of other work. Sometimes a good poem duplicates subject matter of a poem already accepted. I’m sorry your work was not selected for this issue of Spillway and wish you success at placing it elsewhere.

All the best,

Susan Terris Editor, Spillway
